Re: List of things an atheist cannot do
In relation to the courts, I think a greater issue is the assumption that jurors are members of the roman catholic faith. There is no mention of the affirmation when jurors are being called to the jury box. I'd prefer that the registrar says that when they are called upon, they should enter the jury...

Re: List of things an atheist cannot do

A - A Rover is a young person, maybe still an adolescent, and adolescence is the age where young people feel the need to question all the i...

Re: Leaving the catholic church
But there's little point in aggravating your parents for the sake of an empty gesture. Bingo! That's all it is. Signing a de baptism cert or requesting to be struck off the baptismal register is an empty gesture. There is no contractual basis and as there is no consideration, you'd have no rights t...

Re:
Thousands of people believe in ghosts because they have SEEN (as opposed to just having a gut belief in) ghosts. You can question the validity of 'seen'. Nevertheless there is a big difference between just 'believe' and jumping from this to 'must exist'. Secondly, leading on from 'seen', the fact t...

Remember Christ says: 'knock, and the door will be opened to you'... bearing in mind St Paul's: "you have to work out your own salvation" Jesus and St Paul... I assume you are a practicing catholic. If I'm wrong just say so. Do you believe you are eating flesh every Sunday? Do you believe you are d...

Ok, so I jumped to a conclusion without knowing enouh. So tell me, what about these experiences were beyond explanation by purely natural means? Being bored with exams, seems perfeclty natural. As does deciding to engage in a favourite past time to blow off exam steam. Feeling happy and content also...

Patrick, I'm sure there is a natural explanation for what happened to you on that day. Serendipity, not supernaturalism is what I perceive as the root cause of your bliss on that day. I'm sure that you believe that it was a divine experience and who am I to deny that it is. I don't know. Howerver, i...
