Re: Ruairi Quinn plans forum on removing Catholic Patronage

I posted this earlier on politics.ie; Reform of Religious Education in Primary Schools The advisory group of the Forum on Patronage and Pluralism, FPP, issued an interim report today and held it’s last public session in order to share their reflections on the issue with the key stakeholders, other i...

Re: 'It's Personal' - TV show

It was pretty appalling. IO'D came across quite poorly - boorish and rude. Having said that, some of the Muslims were pretty insane. Proudly stating that you would whip someone simply for expressing a point of view is a little nuts.

The results of the poll are here . The article covering the poll on the Iona website is here . David Quinn’s reacti...

Re: Reading the bible. Any tips?

I'd highly recommend the Good News Bible. It's an "everyday language" translation that's easy to read. All the gore, violence, rape, immorality and sheer lunacy of scripture in plain English. And if you come across a passage you think might have been sugar coated, you can look the KJV version up on...

Re: Reading the bible. Any tips?

Start with the historical books (Samuel, Kings etc.). They are more of a narrative than the others. Then move on to the Wisdom books. Job is well worth a read. For the beautiful english alone, go with the KJV. The rendering of the book of Psalms is sublime.

Re: Pope Rejects Resignation by two Bishops

An institution that is rotten to the core. Further approval for the enabling of and covering up of the rape, torture and abuse of children. This monstrous organization should not be allowed to have any role in the welfare or care of children.

Re: The Catholic Church has demanded new primary schools handove

There is an over supply of Catholic schools in this country and there should be a complete moratorium on the state funding any new Catholic schools. Constitutional reform may be needed and the state should grab the opportunity presented by the Catholic church's current difficulties and hit them when...

Re: Woman calls for Catholics to Boycott Mass

Won't make a damn bit of difference and is an utterly futile action. The Catholic church is far to misogynistic and regressive for it to have any effect on it.

She would be better off leaving and freeing herself from all this nonsense and engaging her powers of reason, even at this late stage.
