Re: Missing out on oppurtunity to protect children.
The Catholic church will pay either by correct reformations and justice or through loss of followers. People have now started to lay skeptical eyes on the church. I've never seen so much vitriol in the Irish media against the church. With secular movement gaining some ground and the church losing s...

Re: Child abuse term makes my blood boil
Yes, but even when reporting an individual incident of child rape, it is termed child abuse by the media.

Re: Missing out on oppurtunity to protect children.
I think the church is now winning the fightback, and most people now think they are being over criticised. This is such as shame. The Catholic church will pay either by correct reformations and justice or through loss of followers. People have now started to lay skeptical eyes on the church. I've n...

Re: A request...
Guys and gals, There is something that has been really bothering me for the last few months that I thought I should point out. I have become increasingly annoyed at the insistence of the media to relegate the rape and torture of children by the priests into one non-specific, easy little word: "abus...

Child abuse term makes my blood boil
Why do we dumb down child rape, and call it child abuse. If an adult woman is raped (or male), it isn't reported on the news that a woman was abused on her way home from a nightclub. It is reported as it is, RAPE. Why are children not afforded the same decency, when the vile crime of rape is commite...

Missing out on oppurtunity to protect children.
I think as a country we have missed our oppurtunity to put some manners on the catholic church, and protect future children from abuses. I belive strongly we should have harnessed opinion over the past few months, to introduce an obudsman to investigate, all reports of abuse in the church. In the pa...

Re: Nell McCafferty tears into Diarmuid Martin
Nell McCafferty, like so many Irish people, makes the mistake of forgetting that the only reason why a child would be reverential towards the clergy (priest or nun) is because the parents of such children are brainwashed Catholics, et al, themselves. Therefore, whilst her attack on Diarmuid Martin ...

Re: Will the Pope's expected visit contribute to healing process
In response, to the title of the thread "Will the Pope's expected visit contribute to healing process". I would say the Catholic Church, have only shown themselves to be interested in the "healing" of the churces image. I have seen no interest as an organisation in any sort of healing for victims (a...

Child rape : Collective responsibility
There are problem loads of threads on the Murphy & Ryan report, already. But this is some things I've been arguing out with family friends lately. While the main blame for the child rape, lies at the door of the people who perpetrated the rapes, the main disgust in society at the minute is probably ...

Re: Nell McCafferty tears into Diarmuid Martin
Nell has a very good point here to be made. When addressing someone as your grace or your eminence, etc.... it automatically gives them an air of "grace", excuse the pun. So it disarms the person addressing them (sort of disarms their suspicion of the person receiving the title). On a more worrying ...
