Re: Really Truly True Believer July 2011
I nominate a poster from Twitter. "I've no issue giving the Church more money to help with that compensation, and neither have a lot more of us." "If i murder someone tomorrow, and ask a priest in a confessional box for forgiveness, i would not expect him to go to the authorities, or he's broken the...

Re: Rebecca Watson v. Richard Dawkins
Byron, would you mind explaining why you feel this is ridiculous? I think we need to be careful about the language that we use on this issue and I do think it goes too far to call this letter 'ridiculous', particularly given who it was written by. However, just because it's from victims of sexual a...

Re: Rebecca Watson v. Richard Dawkins
And now Dawkins has been sent a letter by survivors of sexual assault. The ridiculousness of this knows no bounds.

Re: Rebecca Watson v. Richard Dawkins
It's also worth reading this, a post by Stef McGraw, the student that Rebecca openly criticised at the CFI Student Leadership Conference during her keynote speech and while Stef was in the audience. It's what got it all snowballing in my opinion. http://www.unifreethought.com/2011/06/fursdays-wif-st...

Re: Rebecca Watson v. Richard Dawkins
Rebecca has just posted a response to the whole thing.

I'm a tad irked by some of her comments to be honest.

Re: Rebecca Watson v. Richard Dawkins
I'm somewhat on the fence about it. I understand Rebecca's point of view in that she was asked a rather benign question in an uncomfortable setting which in turn makes the benign question somewhat more malevolent. On the other hand, Richard is also right in that in the end, it was probably one of th...

Re: Blasphemous UCC exhibit sparks outrage
There should be an article about this in the Evening Echo some time next week. Myself, the PRO of the society and someone else who was on the counter-protest with us were all asked for our comments regarding the protest. Will keep you all informed.

Re: Blasphemous UCC exhibit sparks outrage
Apparently the Gardai are investigating and a file has been sent to the DPP. I read this on a blog so it's not exactly the most reliable source.

Re: Blasphemous UCC exhibit sparks outrage
Just in the door from the protest. To say the Catholic protestors were hostile would be an understatement. They didn't talk to us but at us. They were also overheard talking among themselves that they should "get in front of us to block us". However, two quotes stuck in my head. Firstly, when we arr...
