Re: Junior Certificate Religeous Education Exam

<snip> They then put her in the place in the school where they put children who are being punished. It was a public place and she was constantly asked by students and teachers what she did wrong. I don’t do religion was her constant answer. Up to this point she had never once been in any kind of tr...

Re: Junior Certificate Religeous Education Exam

I kinda liked this little nugget: Name another person, associated with one of the world religions listed above, whose faith has inspired others. Marking Criteria: An excellent answer will show an ability to identify evidence of religious belief in stories from a major world religion by accurately id...

Re: Atheist song thread

Last christmas, I rewrote Oh Holy Night: Oh holy night, the stars are where and what they are due to the immutable physical laws of the universe. Long lay the world, in the same position as always, about 4.5 billion years since its birth. A trill of alarms, the weary world awakens, as the sun rises ...

Re: Rebecca Watson v. Richard Dawkins

Just thought I'd mosey on here to check if anything had been said, and lo and behold, a nice big thread to catch up on. I've been following some of the debate on a boards.ie thread too, and just waded in today to give my two cents. It's gotten a bit messy over there, with a lot of personal clashes m...

Re: Contraception "education" at the Knock Summer Festival

Came to post about this, and discovered that there was already a thread. I think that lies of omission are as bad as any, and to discuss the risks of the Pill without context is basically lying. I was writing a blog about it and did some research, and it seems that this is actually a common enough t...

They usually publish minutes/transcripts of these things, don't they? I'd love to give them a read, as I wasn't able to listen in work (no headphones!)

Re: Non RC IN RC school?

This is a question I've found myself recently asking. A friend of mine has just finished a course to become a secondary school teacher, and while he is an atheist, has felt that he has to keep this quiet, for fear of it impacting on job prospects. It's ludicrous that, in a modern country which is so...

Re: Pope to Visit Ireland

@Beebub - Understandable. I'm fairly net-savvy, and deal with spam stuff all the time in my line of work. I'm often more of a lurker than a frequent poster, but I intend to read here more often now, and hopefully throw in my 2c wherever I feel it's useful. I think that I'd probably be motivated to g...

Re: Pope to Visit Ireland

Why? Because I have a link in my sig? Didn't see anything in the rules against a blog link or similar in signatures, but if there is one, I'll happily remove it.

Re: Pope to Visit Ireland

I expect that there'll be more protesters than people out to cheer. I certainly wouldn't be too happy with a visit, unless of course we could use his presence here to extradite him or bring various child abuse charges against him...
