Re: SQL - Totally Off topic

Is it exactly the same version of SQL Server on both systems? - I had an issue a couple of months ago where queries would run beautifully on my local SQL Server 2005, but when I uploaded to them to the production SQL Server 2000 it was a disaster because the optimiser works differently (especially w...

Have you tried executing the query in the Database Engine Tuning Advisor? That'll tell you where the bott...

Re: 'And now Father Pat will say a few words'

While everyone else has their heads bowed in prayer, you could jump on the table and re-enact that scene from The Exorcist. Actually, I do nothing when it comes to 'grace before meals' at weddings. I sit there and watch everyone else. It only lasts a minute at the most, and I'm certainly not turning...

Re: You believe in nothing

Two young gals approached me as I was at the back of the crowd watching the Sex Pistols on the main stage. They approached me in a very friendly manner and asked me how I felt about Jesus. Hang on a sec. Sex Pistols, beer, and two Christian girls? You mean... you had the perfect opportunity to corr...

How exactly does the church control education in Ireland?

I've realised I have a very vague knowledge of how the Catholic Church controls the education system in Ireland. Can someone explain in a straightforward way; 1) What are the organisation structures in place which allows Church control? (e.g. who does the headmaster report to, what about the board o...
