Epicurus questions remain unanswered, I will not respect worshippers or apologists of such evil concoction that is personified in the monotheistic religions god. Religion does not represent anything but delusion. There is no such thing as a moral value that depends on religion. Some say that because...

Morality: Doing by free will what you think is right. Religion: Doing by fear of punishment what somebody else thinks is right. Tell me that those two are compatible. Tell me how . Of course, you can coincide in your moral opinions with religious opinions but then, you do not need a religion to tell...

I think as long as we don't have a live population of believers in this forum there will be no need for moderation.

Martha, kudos to you. Not sure what other men (around here or elsewhere) think, but I'm personally sick and tired of women who lack character. So keep the assertiveness, please ;)

It is a good measure to avoid what happens in many other countries, where the church publicly claims a headcount that does not accurately describe the facts. This way, if you are truly a catholic you will have no objection to pay this tax. And if you are not you surely won't want your money in their...

Two major flaws here and a definite no. I feel (watch the word, I have no proof, just a hunch) that those who need a religious imposition in order to become 'moral' are not actually moral, and never will be. They'll act unethically as soon as they believe they can get away with it. Second issue... D...

The sites were simply chosen as the top in google.

The pro-DP is all about revenge. I need more evidence on the bad and the good (if any of either) of DP, though. If you find some decent scientific study on the subject, Brian, please share!

Brian, I do not believe you will find unbiased data on this subject. So you are always going to have serious doubts about the validity of any study presented. Or at least you should. Googling for death penalty deterrent yields a couple of interesting pages: Against and in favour of the death penalty...

With false assumptions one can conclude anything!

Assuming what you said was true, the answer would be yes.

I would accept war under the assumption that it somehow precludes a greater damage.

State execution is purely revenge and brutality.

War, when the objective is not the above, is murder.

Of course, it is never that simple. But the point is clear. I hope.
