Re: UCC Express Student Paper Article

I agree with you Brian with regards to the reasons for supporting them. It is a disgrace that they're not being approved when the pro-life soc in firmly ensconced. I would just be afraid of putting off would-be members by taking an official stance. They might not see it that we would be doing it for...

Re: UCC Express Student Paper Article

I'm just wary of coming across as a wing of the pro-choice campaign while we're trying to push the soc through. I agree with Adam on this one. We can't show our support for a would-be pro-choice soc because SASS isn't constitutionally pro-choice, even if the majority of our membership is likely to ...

Re: UCC Atheist soc - picking a name

My vote went to SASS too :D I quite like it.

Although UCC Atheists may seem like the most obvious option, SASS is the best option because of the difficulties that Adam has outlined.

Re: The root of all evil

I was so shocked to see that RTE showed the documentary. I didn't think it would ever happen and I was delighted. Finally a bit of realistic programming.

I expected an uproar the next day in the papers and on the radio etc, does anyone know if there was much of a reaction??

Re: Moral Dilemma

I agree with robdonn on this one too. I would've done exactly the same thing. I think that being asked to be a godparent is an honour in spite of the religious association. The parents clearly thought you were the best person for the job and it didnt matter to them what your religious stance was (or...

I think that's what I'm trying to say Ygern, thanks. I feel like I spend too much of my time defending atheists/non-religious/secularists et al, when that energy could be put to much better use. I do realise that people revert to personal digs when confronted with clear logic and have nowhere else t...

This article is in this morning's indo in it's entire glory :? My Dad made a point of showing it to me with the (well-intentioned) attempt to prove to me that religion isn't all bad. In hindsight I think it was a half-hearted attempt to convert me back as I have been ambiguous about my (non)beliefs ...
