Re: Mervyn Storey at it again...

"Equality legislation"? Using that logic, it's time my friends to demand equal representation for our true god the Flying Spaghetti Monster and His creation of our universe. May his noodly appendage touch you. Seriously though: Museum = Science Religion does not deserve equal representation. “I beli...

The idiocy of "defamation of religion"

I stumbled across this article by Russell Blackford on the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies website. Its in line with Johann Hari's article about the freedom to criticize religion. The whole idea of defamation of religion is nonsense. Taken literally, it would mean that I could not utt...

Re: The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights is muzzled

Johann Hari's refusal to bow down to hatred and intolerance is commendable, especially in the face of death threats and riots. I applaud his courage and steadfastness. The world would be a far better place if more voices like his were heard. It would be a betrayal of them – and the tens of thousands...

Re: Johann Hari on fire again

But a free society cannot be structured to soothe the hardcore faithful. It is based on a deal. You have an absolute right to voice your beliefs – but the price is that I too have a right to respond as I wish. Neither of us can set aside the rules and demand to be protected from offence. I could no...

20 Reasons to abandon Christianity

20 Reasons to abandon Christianity http://www.freethoughtpedia.com/wiki/20_Reasons_to_abandon_Christianity Yet another liberal atheist article I stumbled across on reddit.com. Its a good summary of a bad religion. Many people say, despite the controversy, Christianity is a force for good in society....

Re: Signature collecting in UCC

Problem solved. 2 man stand. 2 hours. Result:12 signatures. Thats 88 to go then. Here are a few of the lessons learned and suggestions for the next group: Bring lollipops to bribe people. (It works) Bring clipboards so people can sign stuff easily. Have a better sign, one people can read. Bring a la...

Re: UCC draft constitution

The Christian Union Constitution states that "Membership shall be open to all student members of U.C.C.". I think we should add that.
