Christmas stamps

Anyone else annoyed by the Christian religious iconography (virgin mammy and jaysus) on the An Post Xmas stamps this year (or indeed most years)? A fairly trivial example of ongoing entanglement between the hierarchy and the state, but it all adds up ... :)

Re: Previous Thread Regarding Traveller’s March – Deleted by Mod

I didn't care for some of the comments made either on that thread. My own position is that I tolerate Traveller culture insofar as the law requires me to. I don't respect some individual travellers based on their actions, which is different. To tar every last traveller with the same brush is not acc...

Re: Atheists and Christmas - Ryan Tubridy Show next Monday

Given that probably most atheists celebrate Christmas in some shape or form - the time spent with family and friends, the gift giving and receiving, the overindulgence, the time off work and the general nostalgia of it all, but don't observe the religious claptrap - I guess that some christians want...

Re: UN publishes IHEU statement on child abuse and the Holy See

The link in this post is to a clip of very important documentary evidence about the catholic church. I doubt any orgaisation in this state has the moral authority to refute it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VABSoHYQr6k Definitely very very funny, and timely. No doubt Catholics will be extremely of...

Re: Proof for the existence an Intelligent Creator

His strategy is wasting his and our time, and I for one don't appreciate that. if you think you are wasting your time here, who obligates you to participate ? btw. i back up my arguments, without taking the bible on hand, so your point is baseless. I've no interest in arguing with you, not one bit....

Re: Proof for the existence an Intelligent Creator

Yep, this guy has been here before using similar arguments he used in this thread. After getting his arguments ripped to shreds, he said he was done with his evangelising here on this post Regens Küchl compiled a very comprehensive list of other fora where Adonai88 has been evangelising before. Our ...

Re: Secular Ireland - Our Lifetime?

The census really doesn't need to specify which ones - the faithful can be relied on to at least know which religion they do belong to. It could be streamlined down to: Do you have a religion? _____________ (Y / N) If YES, specify which: _____________ The current wording is awkward and leads to peo...

Video game: Mass We Pray

This one is very likely total bullshit or some clever viral marketing, but it's funny nevertheless. If it is a real game release, it has seriously got to be the suckiest thing I have EVER seen by a seriously wide margin. http://www.masswepray.com From the blurb: "A family shouldn’t have to wait unti...

I fully agree, we need a firm policy of all schools funded by tax to be secular. We've no hope of getting it of course, but let's have a bit of vision.
