Re: Kate Holmquist on Count Me Out

Defecting from the Catholic Church was “remarkably simple”, says Jonathan Hession (55) a photographer from Dublin. “I felt there was a weight off my shoulders. I was liberated.” He learned that official defection was possible when he heard about the Countmeout.ie website. “The church has been brain...

Re: Count Me Out.ie

One comment that keeps cropping-up when I tell friends and family about me defecting is: "I didn't know you can do that". They are really surprised that it's possible.

Re: Count Me Out.ie

Re: Primetime - Count Me Out

I thought the best line came from Jane Donnelly, a humanist, who said, "Ethos is a licence to indoctrinate" She should put herself forward as a spokesperson for the cause.

I watched all three parts of the documentry and the bit you refer to was very enlightening. On one hand you see the beauty of nature and on the other hand you see all it's savagery.

Re: Parents reaction to baptism defection

Hi, I am in the process of defection at the moment. My father is dead and I'm not talking to my mother, but I told my nieces and they just asked 'why?' I say go ahead with it. You are a grown man now and in charge of your own life. I understand (as a parent), how you don't want to upset your mother....
