Re: Pope Bendydick....this bastard is really pissing me off....

What a twunky! :x He really makes me cross sometimes. How can one man be so successful at saying just the right thing to cause the maximum possible harm? This sort of proclamation provides grist to the mill for the rosary bead brigade who like to poke their angry noses into anything to do with repro...

Re: RDFS Press Releases Rgarding MORI polls

I think most people don't think about religion (or the possible lack thereof) at all - they just keep on doing what they always did. They don't see it as something that affects them or their lives, its like walking the dog or something. I never thought about it much myself until circumstances force...

Re: Going to Mass

i still bless myself when funerals pass  Sounds like one for the old lapsed atheist confessional thread! I'm very careful with saying "Godbless!" at the end of phone calls to my parents. They always sign off with that phrase and I try to remember not to respond in kind. They don't know I'm n...

Re: Society seems to increasingly less monogamous.

I can't say I've noticed this trend. Not among single people and especially not among those practising monogamy. And I can only really comment about the past 10years or so, I would leave it to someone more senior than I to comment beyond that. I'm in my mid-thirties but because of work I know a fai...

Re: Research Survey on Religious beliefs/Atheism and attitudes

Hi Joleen

I'd like to take the survey, however although I'm an ex-Catholic Irishman I'm also an ex-pat, so I presume you wouldn't want my data muddying your statistical analysis...

Re: temple of atheism

I'm not sure why de Botton is saying that he is looking for an antidote to "aggressive" and "destructive" atheists like Dawkins. I suspect he has never read, listened to or engaged with anything he has said on the subject. He should try reading Dawkins' "Unweaving the Rainbow", which would surely cl...

Don't let them get away with it! This would never happen anywhere else in the UK, highlight it to the slumbering populace - get it on the Today Programme...

Re: CSO Census Results Speculation

Chemicals, I agree with the Antipodean Biped on this point. I came to atheism on my own, but didn't feel I could tell anyone. Then I found Dawkins' book, then Hitchens and Harris. And then the atheist bus campaign in the UK. And the Count Me Out campaign. All this stuff helped me to realise I'm not ...

Their god will be very proud. Particularly if that god happens to be Yahweh.

Re: Vegas Wedding!

You're right - religion should have nothing to do with weddings, marriage or anything else of importance.[/ I simply can't agree with that. I'm all for separation of church and state and all that it entails. But plenty of people hold marriage very much to do with religion. If two religious people w...
