Re: I had an epiphany
"I accept evolution" And they ACCEPT Jesus Christ as their savior :) That's why I'd insist on adding "on the basis of the available evidence". But I agree understand is a good word to use, for the reason that creationists do not reject evolution, they reject a parody of evolution. That said there's...

Re: I had an epiphany
I've discussed evolution with a number of people and I have learned to stress that "I accept evolution", it's worth adding "on the basis of the available evidence" too. If you fall into the trap of agreeing when they ask if you ' believe ' in evolution you are setting yourself up for the old Darwini...

Basically it was a discussion on the effects of the doctors role in providing reassurance. Some of thes...

Re: Placebo effect
It's something I would be interested in too, but I have to confess that I would not have looked at it in too much depth. A few years back I submitted a research proposal to a medical conference to investigate the possiblity of a negative placebo effect, but unfortunately they didn't think it was wor...

@Ygern, I know exactly what you mean, but do they really think that a Ctrl+C Ctrl+V is going to achieve anything.

Re: Why do Atheists think life is pointless?
I was going to suggest erotic asphyxiation, but I won't now. Seriously though, for someone to believe that the entire purpose of existance was so one could get a huge payoff at the end, is greedy and selfish to the point of obsenity. And we ain't talkin' a fortnight in the French Reviera greedy, we'...

Re: We get email too (Feb 2011 edition)
I love the "We gets emails" section, but the last few have been pure copyNpaste, If they feel that strongly then they should actually engage. I for one have no problem with differences of opinion once respectfully voiced, and would welcome it.
