Re: A thank you to beautiful minds

My short list is Richard P Feynman Leonhard Euler Carl Friedrich Gauss I've really come to appreciate maths a lot more as I studied engineering over the last couple of years. I used to think when I retired I might do a degree in Philosophy to keep myself occupied mentally but now I think I'll do one...

Re: David Norris for Irish President

I have in the last couple of years developed a little fetish for discovering the Etymology of the words I use often. You would be shocked just how much English you use every day is also religiously based. Here in Germany, the language is riddled with it too. We even have our own "Dia duit" in the f...

Re: Holiday Ideas

I always enjoy myself when I'm in Bavaria, well technically Munich I don't tend to go further than Finsing when I'm there but I have pleasant memories of Bad Toelz and some of the many lakes, forget the names though. I was in Malta a couple of years ago and I thought that was nice, super hot though ...

Re: FG list of proposed referendum

There is an atheist option on the census. I don't think so. There was a list of check boxes for each religion including Roman Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, etc. There was a check box for "Other" with a text box for writing the name of the religion. There was a check box for "No Religion". There was no c...

Re: Computer internals

So the question is, is it possible to remove the whole lot (copper mesh), and replace it with just a Heatsink on top of the CPU itself. Optionally I can leave the front fan on after removing the heat sink shroud to increase air flow within the case. if it was me I'd install it as is and keep an eye...

Re: Scary Mary

I remember a woman on O'Connell st who'd kind of dance up and down she was always smiling as far as I remember. I don't recall her saying prayers though.. could be a different woman I suppose. I did hear that she was related to some politician or other..

Re: Apollo 11 tapes found?

That's exactly it. Sci-fi writers are happy to imagine all kinds of advances in technology & even in medicine (replaceable limbs, cure for cancer, brain transplants etc) but strangely it tends to be the dystopian stories that introduce the idea of painless, safe childbirth. The genuinely utopian on...

Thanks for that Catherder, I just installed it.. it's a great looking application. I always appreciate it when free software is done as well as that.. Now I have to just resist the temptation to play with it all night and get back to working on my final year project !
