Re: How to make Creationists Speechless

This idea most definitely does not work. I put it into practice in a debate I'm having with a catholic creationist on P.ie and it made no difference. Like Richard Dawkins said they just stick their fingers in their ears and choose not to listen. They argue dishonestly, mangle science and peddle the ...

Re: Really Truly True Believer March 2011

I want to nominate this woman who thanks god for shaking up japan to convince atheists he exists... she never heard of plate tectonics and continental drift http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UmotTE-VlY I would normally agree but she's just come clean that she's a troll after Anonymous posted her pers...

Re: I had an epiphany

Thanks for the advice Ygern. It's a pity I didn't have it to listen to before I got dragged into just such an argument on Politics.ie. Bad idea. Whoever said that you should only talk politics or religion if you're looking for a fight was on to something. Quite a lot of anti-scientific and anti-athe...

Re: FiannaFail the anarchist party!

He seems a little misguided though in thinking that FF were deliberately trying to bring down society rather than just being a shower of cock-up artists. If I were him though I'd try and get SF into power if you really wanted to f**k up the country.

Re: Placebo effect

I can't quote any studies, but I know my Dr at least believes that a reduction in stress can help the natural healing process. That's why she gives me time off work when I have ailments such as chest infections as an alternative to prescribing antibiotics. Bip, you and your doctor are correct. When...

Re: christianity and secularism

Thanks for the info Marks. You've not only answered my specific question on this issue but also a broader question I've had regarding other articles of the constitution which seem to me to be different from how they are perceived generally. If interpretation of the constitution is the problem, how d...

Wow, if that's what he can "interpret" from the Bible imagine what he could do with Lord of the Rings.

Re: A vote for Labour is a vote for abortion

Is this guy seriously comparing the abortion issue to same sex marriage and adoption? Is this man mentally handicapped? Yes he is. Even a cursory examination of the articles on the Iona Institute website or his blog on the Irish Catholic website will confirm this. Among his many instances of verbal...

Re: christianity and secularism

While I agree with the notion that children should be free of any sort of inculcation until they reach the age of reason, I doubt even moderate Catholics are going to see it as wrong to pass on what they view as a good moral framework to their children. In other words, even lapsed Catholics will po...

Re: christianity and secularism

If only. The Church won't let go of its near 3000 (if the statistics are accurate) national (this really bothers me) schools, as they need to ensure that another generation of children is indoctrinated. Good luck telling parents that the Holy Communion/Confirmation fancy dress party will have to be...
