Re: Bill Maher's "Religulous" Torrent WTF !?!?!?

Regarding the delay with the torrent coming out, I think that may have been due to the manner in which it was released combined with the fact that people online tend to prefer to wait for the actual DVDrips as opposed to camera recordings of it taken from a cinema etc... as for the documentary itsel...

Re: Should we change the Irish flag, what does it really mean.

hmm...certainly an interesting discussion, and as usual I tend to be straddling the fence with one leg on each side. I think the religious affiliation that can be associated with the flag certainly needs re-examining, and in the light of that a new flag would probably be the end-result, but I'm also...

Re: Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy

My favourite cautionary tale about book to screen adaptations has to be Terry Pratchett's one about being approached to adapt Mort , only the studio wanted him to lose the "Death angle". (If you're the one remaining person on the globe who has not yet read Mort , the novel is about the adventures o...

Re: Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy

Book to film adaptations are notoriously difficult to do well. Its true that some directors don't seem to even try, but there are certain things that only "work" in one medium or the other. It is almost inevitable that the book is always going to be superior to the film. <snip> DJ, did you ever see...

Re: Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy

holy crap, this should be cool!! but i'm always skeptical about book-to-movie translations. The only movie I ever saw that was made from a book and faithfully kept the storyline was Dreamcatcher. Almost a page-by-page translation, it was great! And yeah, I, Robot was pretty bad. I remember reading t...

Re: Bus slogan

I would LOVE to see a similar campaign in Ireland. We Atheists would be happy, the Religious would be in paroxysms of apoplexy, and the apathetic masses would finally take their heads out of the sand to see what all the commotion is about! I would argue for roughly the same wording were it ever to e...
