Man I am a little behind on this! But I will get to it!

Anyway for December to start off.... Islamic Cleric bans women from touching bananas and Cucumbers because of their phallic properties.

How about these home grown idiots from Mayo...

Quote:
A MAYO-BASED campaign which promotes “freedom of conscience” has launched a Supreme Court challenge against Ireland’s law on same-sex partnership, claiming that large sections of the act are unconstitutional.

Quote:
The group believes that the Act – passed by the Oireachtas and signed into law by President Mary McAleese last summer – violates the Constitution’s declaration that all authority is derived from God, as declared in Article 6.1 of the Constitution.

Don't get me wrong; I'm as anti-Islam as the next thinking person but that 'story' about the cleric banning women from handling cucumbers has no source, no references and is, unfortunately, just fiction.

Un-named sheikh, empty tomb, immaculate conception, healing prayer cloth, holy water... ...some people will believe anything!

Having said that, I agree: this is just one of those spurious stories seized on by islamophobes and over-eager atheists. It's not even an 'un-named imam', for Muhammud's sake! A sheikh can refer to anyone over 40. I could even be one for all I know.
No, scratch that, I see you need to be highly regarded by your tribe, and I'm.. ..ehm.. well, let's just say that I'm, eh.. ..No, I'm not a sheikh.

I saw that article floating around on facebook but thought it was made up.

I liked this one:

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/256335/ ... -calls.htm

Quote:
Egyptian Internet revolutionary and controversial blogger, Aliaa Magda, Elmahdy, whose self-pubilshed nude photographs shocked the country, has called on men in Egypt to wear a "Hijab" (a headscarf) and show solidarity with women.

doesn't belong in this thread though

Some of those pictures, just look idiotic, like they have nothing better to be doing, than an official ceremony of woo. I suppose,...at least 'rescue 9' where there, just in case any of the Aircraft were possessed by evil spirits.

Nope. It's the same made-up yarn about an unnamed Sheikh but in Arabic.

How about this guy: Rabbi Avraham Rubin of Rehovot and his inspectors who require workers at the Burger Bar in Jerusalem to wear skull caps if they put the meat on the grill.

Bill Donohue and his little "Adopt An Atheist" campaign deserves a mention.

Sayyid Attiyah, the Egyptian exorcist.

That video was posted on Dec 2nd, which just sneaks him in the door for this month's RTTB. But for a little more detail (and added wacky-ness), there's this video from November in which he explains himself in a bit more detail. I especially love his explanation of the only three things needed to cure an illness. Nothing Medieval about it!
