Here is the transcript of the Pope's address to the congregation at Croke Park, http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/bre ... ng102.html

The worst part,

'Thankfulness and joy at such a great history of faith and love have recently been shaken in an appalling way by the revelation of sins committed by priests and consecrated persons against people entrusted to their care. Instead of showing them the path towards Christ, towards God, instead of bearing witness to his goodness, they abused people and undermined the credibility of the Church’s message'

Once again the Pope reveals how he only has the church's interest at heart as the abuse merely led to the undermining of the Church's credibility, ignoring the emotional and psychological damage of the victims.

Jany, you left out the worst bit which is the sentence which follows your quote:

Quote:
How are we to explain the fact that people who regularly received the Lord’s body and confessed their sins in the sacrament of Penance have offended in this way? It remains a mystery.

A mystery?? It might hard to explain why they did what they did the first time, but there's no mystery as to why the re-offended in such extraordinarly high numbers. It's because the church actively covered up their evil deeds, moved them on to other parishes to hide the problem knowing full well that the chances of them doing it again to other kids was high. We evn have evidence that they had the names and addresses of children being raped by Brendan Snyth and they did nothing. The blame for the vast majority of cases lays squarely at the feet of the institution who's actions led directly to other children being raped and abused.

It's disgusting. The man stinks.

What the?? If it's a mystery to the person whose primary role for over a decade; (not sure how long), was uncovering/covering-up abuse cases worldwide, then it must be just another mystery of the faith, no need to question it.
The real mystery is true-believers turning off their brain to revere Mr. Pope's Poppy-cock.
edit: should define it as popeycock

You beat me to it. I was about to say the same. Still there is no mystery - thsee sacraments fail to stop evil in this world which is why they have to be repeated.
