I've asked a few people about this and they said that they left that question blank "I don't believe in god but I'm not an ATHEIST", being their reason. Sad but true, I on the other hand can never be anything else now LOLz.

Go back to them. The forms have not been collected yet. Explain that by ticking 'no religion' does not necessarily mean their atheists. They simply don't prescribe to the dogma of any organised religion. The question is no about god, it's about the number of people who follow organised religion.
