Signature collecting in UCC
Okay, so...
Brian and Jennie said they can do Tuesday morning 9-11.
Me, Aoife and Sean can do Wednesday morning 9-11.
and there may be one or two more for either morning who havent had a chance to get back to me yet, but this should be enough anyway.
Science Ball tickets are being sold down there Tuesday morning so there will be lots of people about!
Sean says he'll double check with security on Tuesday morning before 9 that everything's okay. It's the security as far as I know who provide a table and chairs (or will help you get them).
Need 3 things: a sign, the signature sheets, copies of the constitution.
The easiest thing to do by way of a sign is just one letter a page "UCC SECULARISTS" or something to that effect. Simple.
Can one of the Tuesday pair print that off in the comp centre next door? If you don't have sellotape or whatever else just grab it from the comp centre guys. I'll send you a copy of the constitution if you wanna print some copies of that too in case people are asking what the soc is about. I'll also send signature sheets.
The more signatures the better!
Is this all OK with everyone?

OK Jennie and Brian hopefully will be ok in the morning and most importantly get lots of signatures.
I booked Kane G20 for wednesday evening if people can make it - same time as last week (6) to get everything together and decide who's on the committee before handing in the forms.

Slight problem. Nobody seems to be here...
I'm sort of wandering aimlessly with a bunch of printouts. Was there supposed to be a table? Or a Jennie?

Re: Signature collecting in UCC
Problem solved.
2 man stand. 2 hours.
Result:12 signatures.
Thats 88 to go then.
Here are a few of the lessons learned and suggestions for the next group:
Bring lollipops to bribe people. (It works)
Bring clipboards so people can sign stuff easily.
Have a better sign, one people can read.
Bring a laptop or something to show images/videos to get peoples attention.
Prepare lines to shout at people, even if just random ones. ("Like signing stuff?" for example)
Advertise the website. (Forgot about that.)

Should be achievable with another day of collecting.

Re: Signature collecting in UCC
My sign up sheet has got 13 names on it (+2 once I get my roommates to sign it. +whoever else I nag tomorrow)
I found that it helped to explain to people A: that they weren't "signing up" to the society (i.e. "you might not be an atheist but don't you think our viewpoint should be expressed?") and B: that we weren't going to be sending them annoying emails as happens with most things you sign up to on campus.
Also: Other Brian put a sign up sheet on the notice board outside the philosophy department. I teach tutorials in the room nearby and can maybe suggest to the students that they could help us out.

Re: Signature collecting in UCC
Just a reminder: I do have G20 booked again for tomorrow 6-7pm -- it's not essential to come, so don't worry if you can't make it, but we can give an update on where things stand and if anyone wants to be on the committee, they need to sign the submission document.
Positions are:
- Auditor
- Vice Auditor
- PRO
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- First year, er... liason officer?
