Post by munsterdevil » Thu Mar 25, 2010 4:09 pm

Whoop dee forking doooo, pubs are open for the Munster Vs. Leinster match hopefully this may set a precedent in abolishing this stupid law, I doubt it, but maybe.

Fair play to all those involved who made it possible, and hope to see a few of ye in Clohessey's, Flannery's etc. on 'Great' Friday Night!!!

and the night will be even more complete if we can hammer Leinster :x :x :x

I don't think there will be. I think it's something most Irish people are against but simply tolerate because it's one day and coupled with the fact the religious are more focused on the abuses still. It isn't in their interests to piss off more Irish people with trivial enforcement of their belief.

Either way fair play to Limerick pubs. Best of luck to Leinster I hope they win. :)

I don't drink and I have no interest in sports, but I'm thrilled the licence to serve drink on Good Friday was granted - if only to stick it to the RCC. I'm sure half the country will be heading to Limerick to have a drink :D

I hope this will see the end of the ban on alcohol on so called 'holy days'.

An Garda Síochána may appeal the ruling...

Who is behind banning alcohol on so called 'Holy Days' anyway? Is is church or state? Or both?

I hope the appeal is dismissed.

Paddy’s day use to have a ban on pub’s opening – That law got shelved - this one should as well.

The problem is that Limerick is going to be absolutely mobbed on Friday night and that is why the Gardaí are so worried, and to be honest I find it hard to blame them. A massive entourage within a 50 mile radius, if not further, of Limerick will decend upon the city, and don't forget the Leinster fans. This highlights the mediocrity of the law, as if all pubs in the country were open they would not have this problem. Despite the problems the Gardaí may have, I'm still in favour of the pubs being open in Limerick that night.

This law is going to die soon - methinks.
