You're probably right, but surely there's a law against showing pornographic images to minors? In this case, I think I read that there was at least one child in the room. I doubt very much that anyone would make a formal complaint and even then I'm not sure he'd be prosecuted as it was accidental. He may have been guilty of having double standards but that's normal for priests.
So assuming no formal complaint was made to the police there should be no need to investigate his destorying of evidence.
In fairness to Brady (he has enough stick of his own at present), I think initially the idea was that the priest would take some time off and come back to the parish to continue his work, but the locals had a shit fit. It was then changed to a 'sabbatical'.
If I was sending my kid for communion etc. it wouldn't bother me that the priest looking after it looked at gay porn on the internet.
