Did anyone see Phelim McAleer on Primetime last night? Arguing that climate change must be wrong because the scientists got it "so wrong" with DDT?

WTF?

He was debating with a UCG climate scientist but as is typical in a debate forum of this nature, the woo woos are given much more prominence than they deserve. With a bit of media training you can actually win a debate against an expert. On an entertainment medium it's often very difficult to get the truth across. I wonder if the scientific establishment (or skeptical groups such as ourselves) should be investing in media training in order to improve our abilities to counteract the BS produced by these people?

It's pretty easy to waffle on about nothing and appear to be talking sense (George Galloway has made a career of it in fact!)... I missed this last night, thanks for the info.

I'd like to think this is the type of thing that the AI will be able to issue official statements on or challenge.

I agree. This sort of thing isn't the sole domain of the NOMA-lovers association.

It doesn't matter if climate change is true or not, that's the thing.
The issue is irrelevent.

We still need to break our dependence on oil provided by a bunch of theocratic tyrants in the Middle East or by Americans robbing Africa.

KingGTR (a new member) is an environmental scientist. He pointed us to this link in a previous discussion on this topic...
