There it is...

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/bre ... ing61.html

To be honest, I was thinking this would be better not going to the media as it'll give Mr. May undue publicity. Then I read him telling Nozz to "relax".

So now we have a Minister of Superstition to go along with our Minister for Not Talking About Superstition in a Mean Way. And I got this off pharyngula; any clues at all? http://www.conorlenihan.net/

Finally a screen shot of the now removed reference to the Minister launching the book from May's site. http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php ... stcount=15

I can't help but wonder about the reference to €10,000.00 prize
Is that maybe a "A Hoax" "A Joke" "A Fantasy" "An Impossibility" "A Fiction" "A Fairytale For Adults" too?

Who put up ten thousand quid just to get people to go to a book launch?

I heard 2nd hand that his radio ad says that the reward is for anyone who can rpove that evolution is a hoax.

I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the article. That section of page one is frequently a little kooky. The quotes he picks from May show that he's clearly mad. It shows Lenihan to be at best using poor judgement and quotes Michael Nugent of AI! :)

It seems Lenihan may have had a change of mind: http://www.politics.ie/education-scienc ... ost2995072

I don't have a tv so I can't verify.

Minister for Science launching creationist book

Post by munsterdevil » Tue Sep 14, 2010 12:51 am

Aha, thanks for moving my post, I looked in every thread to know if it had already been linked, well obviously except this one!

Here is the deluded authors website: http://www.theoriginofspeciousnonsense.com/index-1.html

He kind of reminds me of Martin King doing the weather.

Here's the piece from the front page:

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/fro ... 31472.html

A result! :)

Not only has he withdrawn from the launch, but without a doubt he'll be embarassed by the front page article, or at least he should be.

The Examiner takes a different tack: http://www.examiner.ie/ireland/anti-evo ... 30754.html
Mr Lenihan was due to launch the The Origin of Specious Nonsense in a personal capacity on behalf of John J May, described by the minister’s spokesperson as "a friend and constituent".

Now, that's not the full story is it?

First time here. Just testing if I'm writing in the right place...

he can also be found at darwinsdeadidea.com. However the reason it's noteworthy is because according to the website, Conor Lenihan, TD Minister for science will be launching the book! What a disgrace. This should somehow be highlighted. How can our minister for science not accept evolution as fact and if he does how can he launch a book such as this in his role of minister for science??

From what I've seen here and in the comment section in YouTube where Mr May has video clips of himself promoting the ideas in his new book, it seems that there are still many people who are wondering if this whole thing is real or a hoax. I happen to know Mr May personally and can assure everyone that it his book and the ideas therein are serious and his true beliefs about evolution and Darwin. I just got off the phone with him and he told me, due to the fall-out Conor Lenihan's been receiving, Mr May has asked him not to do the launch. Who will do it instead is to be seen as Mr May is looking for a replacement. Anybody? 8)
