Strange case in Cork !!
Mention of academic paper about bats prolonging sex by fellatio "offends" Catholic Professor,

This is the same Dr. Dylan Evans who gave a talk for the UCC Atheist Society and turns up to a lot of their meetings and discussions.

It all depends on the way it was said. If someone is being factual about sex stuff, I’m not offended. If some one were insinuating something - I’d pick it up and might not like they way they said it.

This might clarify the whole thing -its a letter from the Federation of University Teachers to Prof Murphy,in point 9 its clearly says ...

Do we know the name of the Woman in question? Only Dylan and the name of the Head are mentioned that I can see, not the "victim"

I think that her identity is deliberately left out for her own protection. There are always some well-intentioned numpties who might decide to have a go at her which would be both harassment and detrimental to getting this case reviewed.

(edit) In the pdf linked to here there is no mention of her name probably as it was not needed in this particular instance.
In the other docs her name has been blanked out which I think is appropriate if these documents are being put up for public reading.

It appears this case is picking up momentum on the publicity front. Dr Evans was on the Pat Kenny Show on RTE this morning explaining his side of the story. I'm sure it will be on their iplayer facility soon enough. It was an interesting listen. I would like to hear her side of the argument also, however as her identity is protected its unlikely that she will participate in the Pat Kenny show offering a rebuttal.

It's beginning to look more and more like a case of workplace bullying. The accuser is married to the vice president of research. With the release of additional information the claims don't seem any less spurious.

I'm speculating, and I probably shouldn't be. All I'm saying is that it is easy to envisage a scenario where, a vindictive woman, might abuse power given to her by an anti-harrassment policy, to bully a man. It's easy to envisage a scenario where a professor might discuss a research topic with a colleague, and where that research topic might include discussion of the mating habits of animals.

It's not so easy to envisage a scenario where a man would actively attempt to sexually harass his boss's wife through talk of chiropteran felatio!
