This is the kind of story you usually see printed on the 1st of April each year.

Are they serious? I cannot imagine that there are a lot of people who will not buy a car because of the characters on the numberplate.

So do all 13th registered cars get skipped to 14 too?

e.g. 99-D-13

Why just car registration? The wedding industry will probably shut down, too, nobody will want to be married in an unlucky year. We can probably expect birth control sales to go up starting in March and April - who's going to want a 2013 baby? These "superstitious folk" should just stay inside for the full year, really.

I used to work with a woman who every january would book all Friday 13ths off work. She would literally stay in the house all day and actually try not to get out of bed if possible in case something happened.

I once told her that it was bad luck to be superstitious and she said "Is it? Really?"

This must be the stupidist thing I've heard in while, doesn't the gov have better things to be doing.

Going by this idioticy, then the Irish .ie should also be changed because in numeric 'Leet' it's .13

In some cultures 13 is considerd lucky-13, maybe people should emphasis the positive/good things that happen in relation to the random no.13 rather than say a house burns down on the 12th, no one bats an eyelid, but if it was on the 13th teh media uses a headline to include 'unluky13' ,but no mention of lucky13 if something good happens.

There maybe a religion angle, 12 disciples+ 1madman, now I understand the bad-luck part. |;)
