The 2nd point there is made much of in the Irish media, but although the ex-minister probably made the decision not to fund more Applied Behavioural Analysis on cost grounds, I agree with her.
The benefits of ABA are vastly over-stated. There just isn't any evidence that it works better than other targeted education methods.

I think our biggest problem (as atheists) is that the whole educational apartheid argument has been hijacked by anti-racism liberals and anti-immigration bigots. The whole idea that there is such thing as an Irish atheist is being completely overlooked. People are focused too much on the fact that there are black kids all going to the same school and ignoring the fact that there are people who don't want their kids educated by the CCL.
I quite agree. It's important to point out that sometimes people just want a decent education free from church interference and coercion.
Then again, I know a solution to that
