Well I’ve just finished Freakonomics by Steven Levitt (which I thought was great) – So – If you’ve read it - what do you think about his abortion reduces crime level theory?

read it a few years ago. felt the whole thing was rather anecdotal though as opposed to having any central point or theme. it was interesting though and the whole 'abortion lowers crime rates' bit was intriguing.

i would imagine there is some substance to it but i doubt it was as significant as claimed. if i remember correctly, the study was done in L.A in the 80's? could be wrong there but it doesnt matter, i'd imagine there were 100 other factors that played (possibly more significant) roles in lowering the crime rate over the time period mentioned.
