The nation's highest court, asked to rule on a U.S. appeals court decision that cleared the way for the lawsuit to proceed, rejected the Vatican's immunity appeal without comment.
The lawsuit, filed by a plaintiff identified only as John Doe, claimed he was sexually abused on several occasions in the mid-1960s when he was 15 or 16 by a Roman Catholic priest named Father Andrew Ronan.
According to court documents, Ronan molested boys in the mid-1950s as a priest in Ireland and then in Chicago before his transfer to a church in Portland, Oregon, where he allegedly abused the victim who filed the lawsuit. Ronan died in 1992.

Absolutly shocking, well you see what the popes word is worth,
Pope says atheists pick & choose their morals. Correct. Today I will be frowning on child abuse & not having a problem with homosexuality.

I know I shouldn't care what happens within the RCC because I defected last year, but at least now there might be justice.

This special status of the Vatican caused uproar last year when the Murphy Report into the cover-ups in the archdiocese of Dublin complained bitterly that neither the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, nor the Papal Nuncio in Dublin, answered its queries for files.

6 pupils abused only 12 months, so that's 2 months each... shockingly low

At least in the US now too they are also starting to shift talk to the language of actual prosecutions and not just attempts and complaints.

The first American lawsuit against Irish former Catholic priest Patrick McCabe (74) was filed in California within the past few days.
