As far as I know when a couple gets a divorce, according to the state they are legally divorced, yet according to the CCL they are still married (in the eyes of god). Basically can the Data Protection Act be used to get the information corrected?

Interesting.

In that case, all we need to do is get the CCL to prove their is a god, if they cannot - and they cannot - therefore the non existant god has no eyes, and therefore they are no longer married in the non existant eyes of the non existant god.

I don't see how. A Catholic marriage is different from a civil one, even if they happen simultaneously. A Catholic marriage cannot end in divorce, only in death (or annulment if you're a rich American Catholic) so the information is not incorrect. If the divorced person remarries, the Catholic Church considers them to be committing adultery and may excommunicate them. The Data Protection Act would ensure that the information is available to the concerned parties and that confidential information is treated appropriately; beyond that it has no effect - nor should it have - on the rules of private members' clubs.

I suppose that make sense, so your saying the CCL is almost like a online virtual world, where if two members got married internally but not under civil law, the marriage is just symbolic, not worth the paper it's on. (Catholic-virtual-world) :)
Am I right then when I say that under the DPA a club/company say xtra-vision can keep information on you for their records forever?

Going on the responses to DPA requests around defection Xtravision would have to show that keeping the record is important in some way when you are no longer a customer. If the info is to be used for marketing you could have it deleted though.
