Wusha what a mistake.
The Catholic 'demonstration of strength' (as Diarmuid Martin called it) clashes with Ireland's opening match with Croatia.
We'll just have to cancel the match.

The match doesn't kick off until 19:45, I'll be home in plenty of time :D

It'll be a miracle if we win.

Can you offer an alternative? Anything constructive?

An alternative? Well there's hurling and Gaelic football and rugby.
Would any of these do?

From the TV shots the place looks pretty empty. My estimate - 17,000 empty seats and 3,000 attendees - or maybe it's 18k:2k. Incredible waffle several times about an iconic (brand new!) portable bell - high-grade comedy for Fr Ted (holy stone) or Life of Brian (the gourd! the gourd!) fans. My mother (90 years old) excitedly wanted me to watch it with her -"there will be *millions* and *millions* of people there from every country in the world!" - 2 hours in and she's reassuring me (herself?) that "this is still the rehearsal"!
I'm astonished myself at how few they's managed to rustle up - any politician will see clearly from this just how far the tide has turned.
