In most cases this is how you do it:
* contact your Student Clubs & Societies / Student Union / Student Services for your institution’s requirements for starting a new society
* Get a small group of interested students together (these things are much easier to achieve if you aren’t doing this alone)
* Next you have to collect a certain number of signatures (number differs)
* you will need to have a meeting to decide on the following:
-- Aims of the society
-- Events you intend to hold
-- your Constitution.
-- proposed committee (Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, etc)
* you then submit your application with an application fee and organise your first official meeting
* your college / institute may send a representative along to your first meeting(s) to ensure that the rules and guidelines are being adhered to etc.
Here are some links to get you started.
[This is by no means a comprehensive list. If you have any links or queries, either PM me or post your additions in this thread, and I’ll see that the list is updated straight away]
