Priests behaving inappropriately

Post by Feardorcha » Wed Oct 27, 2010 10:48 am

http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/1026/abuse.html

Father Tony Flannery told 45 priests at a meeting in Mayo that a distinction needed to be made between the paedophile, whose history involved a pattern of child abuse and the man who had behaved inappropriately towards a teenager shortly after emerging from a seminary three decades ago.

Interesting distinction from the people who deal in absolutes of right and wrong concerning sperms and eggs and women's bodies and all that sort of thing.

Could a similar distinction be made for the man who behaved inappropriately towards a Post Office with a sawn-off shotgun shortly after emerging from a prison?

Seems he embraces relativism for a self-serving purpose.

Well at least he's not embracing 12 year olds for self-serving purposes.
Humans are an intelligent species. We just aren't smart enough to realise how stupid we are.

Wouldn't life be great if the 8 hours spent in bed were as long as the 8 hours spent in work.

Of course he is right such a distinction needs to be made. Was it the case that such a distinction was not being made in the abuse scandals in either the official documentation, venerable media coverage or popular belief?

Exactly who is not making this distinction?
